As the sole programmer, I developed JunkArena from scratch, covering everything from core gameplay mechanics to a robust multiplayer and customization system. The project’s architecture emphasizes flexibility, ensuring easy updates and expansion as the game evolves.

Project Highlights:

Robust Round-Based Game Mode: Engineered efficient round handling and a synchronized round timer with network lag compensation, providing clients with an accurate countdown even under challenging network conditions.

Full Gamepad Integration: Implemented seamless gamepad control across gameplay and UI elements using Unreal’s Common UI plugin, ensuring an immersive, console-friendly experience.

Versatile Ability System: Designed a flexible, data-driven ability system akin to Unreal’s Gameplay Ability System (GAS), per client request. The system supports intuitive addition of new abilities and easy adjustment of properties through data assets.

Comprehensive State Management System: Created a state management framework to govern transitions between gameplay states, allowing fine-tuned control over actions and seamless transitions between them.
